The Emerging Arts Advocates is a committee recently created by MCA to promote the growth of our membership in the under-40 age range, to educate the next generation of Maryland Arts Advocates, and to provide advocacy training, professional development, and leadership opportunities to young advocates in the arts field.
The Emerging Arts Advocates is comprised of rising advocates from across all disciplines and regions of the state. From Executive Directors to Artists to Volunteers, they represent a broad range of the ways in which young people are involved in the artistic community. The Emerging Arts Advocates are actively recruiting new MCA members at events, learning the tools and skills necessary to become successful advocates for the Arts, and cultivating relationships with their local representatives.
In their first year, the group planned a post-Maryland Arts Day event , which was unfortunately cancelled due to snowstorms. You can see more information about the event here. Members of the committee were also in attendance at National Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. on April 12th-13th as well as at Americans for the Arts Half-Century Summit in Baltimore on June 25th-27th.
