All Fun & Games: Engaging Community Through Play

Although a lost art, the concept and execution of Play is essential. This powerful tool for creativity, connection, and learning will enable educators and leaders to explore how intentional play can strengthen collaboration, support emotional wellness, and increase engagement in schools and organizations. Participants will experience playful, hands-on activities that model strategies for staff development, classroom instruction, and community building.

Naelis A. Ervin

Naelis A. Ervin is a dynamic multimedia storyteller, facilitator, and creative director based in the DMV region. Her work, which lives at the intersection of artistry and education, is inspired by Debbie Allen, Angela Davis, and even the fictional Ms. Frizzle, fueling her unique approach to instruction and audience engagement. From school events and retreats to conferences and conventions, Naelis has spent over two decades creating “edutaining” experiences for arts-based programs and underserved youth communities.

As the founder of Creatyve Control, L.L.C., and N.A.E. Games, Naelis skillfully designs and facilitates transformative experiences that often center play and cultural connection.

In addition to facilitating a variety of community workshops and professional developments, Naelis has continued to thrive in her craft as an artist. In recent years, she has become a finalist in the inaugural cohort of Tyler Perry’s Dream Collective, served as Emcee for the DC Early EDX Conference (2024–present), and has brought her high-energy game show, Black Noise, to audiences at BlerDCon and beyond for the last four years. She also serves as a regional board member for Playworks, championing joyful, purposeful learning opportunities for children in schools across America.

Through every experience, Naelis is sure to bring her mission to life. “Igniting Ideas Through Innovation” is not just a company motto but a daily practice she knows will leave a lasting impression on those who take part in her sessions.
