About Goodnow
For 27 years, the Goodnow Community Center at 5311 Goodnow Road has united the diverse community of Northeast Baltimore by providing meaningful educational and artistic enrichment to youth. Through programming focused on respect, honesty, cultural diversity, civic responsibility, and teamwork, the Center served as an anchor and inspiration to generations, establishing itself as a source of pride within the Frankford community. Arts for Learning is proud to continue the Goodnow Community Center’s legacy as the managing partner in its facilities.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Goodnow Site Manager, this position plays a key leadership role in one of Arts for Learning MD’s newest initiatives, Arts for Learning Goodnow.  The Site Coordinator at Goodnow performs an integral role in ensuring that programming at Goodnow is designed and implemented to the highest standards to ensure students, families and community members can benefit from our programming and events, improve academic and social and emotional outcomes and provide life changing opportunities through the arts and education. The Site Coordinator will also support Education programs as needed. The Site Coordinator, Goodnow position is a full-time, exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

After School, Community and Summer Programming: Pre Program

  • Develop, in partnership with the Chief Arts Officer, Site Director, and Communications Department, a comprehensive student recruitment and community marketing plan to ensure that all student spots in the program are filled and the community is aware of our presence in the community.
  • Support implementation of the student recruitment plan in conjunction with the Site Director and communications office.
  • Serve as primary contact for all after school, community and summer independent contractor staff and partners including managing contract status.
  • Support the development and coordination of training and professional development logistics for after school, community and summer programming in collaboration with the Curriculum and Development Specialist and other A4L staff members.
  • Research and plan field trips/community celebrations with the support of the Site Director to align with and enhance the academic, artistic, and social emotional goals of the program.
  • Manage the creation and mailing of correspondence to students and families (ie.- acceptance letters).
    Assist with the orientation of and provide supervision to phone volunteers who will call to notify accepted students.
  • Work with Arts for Learning Team members to develop and create program/event schedules
  • Assist with the creation and management of staff applications, including
  • Managing the submission of staff applications
  • Screen new applications
  • Interviews – schedule, invite, and attend
  • Work with the Chief Arts Officer and the Goodnow Site Director on communication plan for hiring staff and orientation
  • Serve as primary phone contact for parents and families calling the office with questions or to confirm their spot in the academy
  • Manage and support logistics and troubleshooting for Goodnow staff during PD sessions
  • Assist staff with schedules
  • Assist in facilitating sessions as necessary
  • Ensure staff have the information needed to attend sessions

After School, Community and Summer Programming: Program Days

  • Serve as point of contact for site staff for troubleshooting problems and concerns
  • Create field trip schedules and attend field trips
  • Document sites for blog posts, social media

After School, Community and Summer Programming: Post Program

  • Collect and review feedback from staff  and student feedback forms
  • Track and review assessment data
  • Create student program summary to be sent to families of students that attended with Chief Arts Officer
  • Assist with cleaning, inventorying, and organizing program supplies

The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing opportunities for youth to realize their full potential in our society and value the arts and arts integration as a transformational tool in our schools and communities. The person in this position plays a key role in the organization, and the position requires excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. Past experience in customer relationship management and budget coordination are preferred.  Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.  Available to work some evenings and weekends during program operation.  Driver’s license and reliable transportation are required as the position will require regular travel throughout the state of Maryland (up to 50% of the time).

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Bachelor Degree in arts education, education or equivalent related work experience.
  • A self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias, and its impact on policies and practices, especially related to the administration of public education.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, and be skilled with budgeting and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have professional-level written and verbal communication skills, as well as proven interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work across teams and with a variety of constituencies.
  • Data entry/computer experience is required.
  • Skilled with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Salesforce, and mail merge tools and/or an ability to become familiar with organization-specific programs and software.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment.

We offer a starting annual salary of $54,500 and an attractive benefits package which includes medical, dental, and vision health care coverage, retirement contributions, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
