JUBilant Spaces: Where Teaching Artists and Community Missions Intersect
Rooted in the experience and expertise of the staff at Jubilee Arts, this 60-minute workshop explores how teaching artists can amplify their artistry while responding to community needs through intentional curriculum design. With a small staff supporting daily operations and outreach, Jubilee relies on a network of contracted teaching artists from across Baltimore, who are essential collaborators. These artists design and lead classes rooted in their own artistic practices while responding to the interests and needs of the demographic we serve as an organization.
Participants will leave with practical curriculum-building tools, collaborative strategies, and a clearer understanding of how teaching artists can use their creative practice to foster inclusive, socially impactful arts experiences.

Gen Fraser, Director – Genifer is a community artist and educator who uses a multitude of mediums and expressive colors to create paintings, installations, and immersive experiences. Prior to working as Jubilee Arts’ Program Director, Genifer’s previous workexperiences included teaching at local schools and arts centers, serving as a Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) grant panelist, organizing and consulting on public art projects, and serving two years in the Community Art Collaborative AmeriCorps Program as the Port Discovery Children’s Museum’s Community Artist in Residence. As Program Director of Jubilee Arts, Genifer is responsible for staff management, strategic planning, program creation, financial management, and the development of relationships between Jubilee Arts and various community partners. Genifer is also a current resident artist with the Baltimore County Arts Guild and holds degrees and certificates from both Virginia Commonwealth University and the Maryland Institute College of Art, specializing in Art History, Community Engagement, and Community Art.
HOPE McCorkle
HOPE McCorkle, Program Coordinator – Hope is a transdisciplinary, award-winning community artist with previous work experience as a resident artist, muralist, community organizer, and teaching artist with organizations such as Creative Nomads, Maryland Multicultural Youth Center, Culture Keepers, Creative Alliance, and more. Her experience includes partnerships with various schools and permanent installations at prestigious arts institutions across the state and country, such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C., the Baltimore Convention Center, and the Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum. As Program Coordinator, Hope is responsible for outreach to local public schools and community partners, supervision of all Jubilee Arts daily classes, support and mentorship to staff, teaching artists, and volunteers, social media management, and communication with program participants, among many other things. Hope also has a BFA in Studio Art and Psychology from New York University, and is a current resident of West Baltimore where she works.
Keyarra Johnson
Keyarra Johnson, YiB Program Manager – Keyarra is a long-time resident of the 21217 area. She is a ceramicist, animator, game developer, and graphic designer, and first came to Jubilee as a teen and member of the Youth in Business Entrepreneurship Program. Through this program, she created the YiB Alumni Mentor Program, developed YiB’s Program Assistant Role by serving three years in the Community Art Collaborative Americorps Program, served as a panelist for the Awesome grant, and helped to develop the Youth Rising Coalition. Additional work experiences have included teaching and program management jobs with DENT Education and the Maryland Institute College of Art. With all of her experience, Keyarra was promoted and is responsible for program recruitment and daily operations of the Youth in Business Program. This includes outreach to local public schools and community partners, supervision of all YiB classes, support and mentorship to staff and program members, social media management, and communication with participant families. Keyarra is also a local business owner in her own right, acting as the creative mind behind 128Art, LLC.
