Learn. Show. Sell. — A Statewide Initiative to Support Visual Artists

Jen Sterling was born in Wisconsin and primarily grew up in Northern Virginia. A graduate of George Washington University, she holds a BA in Visual Communications with a minor in Psychology. She was an entrepreneur in design and branding for 30 years and founded three creative agencies. Jen sold her last company and now focuses on her fine art. Her work was awarded an International Grand Prize and has been shown in numerous galleries and festivals throughout the mid-Atlantic. Her colorful abstracts adorn clothing, skateboards, private homes, and several commercial buildings.

In 2024 she founded the non-profit Artist Open Studios Inc. AOS was founded to assist the visual artists of Maryland to increase visibility and sales by inviting the public into their studios during an annual event. The ultimate goal is to have a weekend long celebration of the visual arts and artists across all of Maryland.

In addition, AOS has built out an online community for all Maryland visual artists to strengthen their business skills, provide support and the opportunity to learn from each other, and grow their art practice. As President Kennedy once said, “a rising tide raises all boats.” The more we can raise up our artists the better for all arts across the state.

Jen maintains a love of business and is an active mentor for emerging businesses and fellow artists. Jen lives with her husband and multiple dogs in Annapolis, Maryland.
