Monthly Academy
Each Month, Commit to Bi-weekly Connected Sessions
In a community with members of Maryland’s arts sector, we will build a brave space for courageous conversations about race and other social identities. Participants will increase their understanding and capacity for racial equity through guided reflection and discussions.
When registering for an academy, please commit to attending the Evening Session AND Lunch-time Reflection Session for the month.

Overview
As the arts sector moves toward Racial Equity, it is necessary to examine and reconcile the past, understand the present, and create change for the future. The Maryland Arts Institute of Racial Justice provides two types of professional learning for arts organizations, independent artists, arts educators and supervisors, and arts advocates. Registration is FREE.

Monthly Academy
MAIRJ Fall Academy Level TWO, from September-December
Develop an action plan to operationalize racial equity in your professional work.
The cohort meets for eight sessions.
Utilizing the Maryland Creative Process Maps as a foundational framework, we will create a brave space for courageous conversations and reflection to build towards individualized action plans for racial justice. Participants must commit to attending all sessions. Limited Spaces are available!!
**This course is tailored for participants that have previously participated in MAIRJ or have comparable learning experiences about racial justice. Conversation topics will include white supremacy culture, white fragility, racialized current events, and decolonizing arts spaces.
